Craig Newmark Philanthropies and Consumer Reports work to increase America’s cyber savvy

Ben Moskowitz

Director, Digital Lab at Consumer Reports

It’s been three years since CR launched the Digital Lab, with support from Craig Newmark Philanthropies and other generous donors. In that time, the Digital Lab has grown to 23 positions across CR, and we’re constantly innovating to protect and advance consumers’ interests.

Today, we are announcing that Craig is doubling down on his support of CR, with a $5m grant to increase consumers’ cyber savvy. This is part of a broader commitment to strengthen the nation’s cybersecurity.

Specifically, Craig’s support will enable CR to explore IoT product security labeling schemes based on CR Recommended, step up evaluations of security enhancing tools, and scale up use of our free personal security assistant (https://securityplanner.consumerreports.org/).

You can read about it in our press release and story. And if you want to share the news, please check out the Twitter thread announcing the investment.
