Congress is getting closer to holding Big Tech accountable
Antitrust talks are heating up and CR is working on several fronts to advance bipartisan bills in the U.S. Senate that would help address the market dominance of tech giants. CR recently wrote senators in support of a key bill that would set fair market rules to prevent incumbents from abusing their market power. New York passes historic Right to Repair law
Earlier this month, New York became the first state in the U.S. to pass a right-to-repair bill for electronics, based in part on CR’s model legislation. It requires manufacturers of phones, tablets and other devices to share their repair information, tools, and parts with independent repair shops, not just their own stores or partners — and consumers would have the freedom to fix the devices they own. If the governor signs the bill into law, manufacturers will no longer have a monopoly on who can repair their products, consumers will save money, and we’ll cut down on waste.
